PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) - Oregon Transportation Department officials say extreme fog and hazardous driving conditions including black ice have prompted them to close a long stretch of Interstate 84 in northeast Oregon.

The highway was temporarily closed Tuesday night from about 7 miles east of Pendleton to just west of Ontario. Some crashes and disabled vehicles have been reported.

Transportation spokesman Tom Strandberg says multiple crashes were reported in the area Monday night. He says no serious accidents have been reported Tuesday night.
