DECATUR, Ala. (AP) - Two north Alabama emergency service providers have filed a petition for reorganization bankruptcy.
In a federal bankruptcy court filing, owner of Decatur Emergency Medical Services Roger Stanmore said the company has between 50 and 99 creditors and between $10 million and $50 million in liabilities. Stanmore listed estimated assets at between $1 million and $10 million. Another company Stanmore owns, Gadsden/Etowah EMS, also filed for bankruptcy on Tuesday.
The Decatur EMS Committee voted last week to recommend that City Council revoke Decatur Emergency Medical Services’ license to operate in Decatur. Officials are expected to vote on that March 3.
Some of the company’s ambulances were out of service when employees walked off the job. The company has struggled to meet Decatur’s requirements for the number of available vehicles.
