ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Three cashiers at the Albuquerque zoo have been fired after an undercover investigation indicated that cash from admissions fees was being stolen.

City officials say they’re not sure how much money was taken but say undercover video footage recorded cashiers pocketing money.

Evidence has been turned over to police for a criminal investigation that could lead to prosecution.

Officials say a private investigator installed surveillance cameras after officials noted irregularities in attendance and ticket revenue.

The three cashiers worked for a contractor who supplied temporary staffing to the city.
