INDIANOLA, Miss. (AP) - Authorities have retrieved the body of a missing Itta Bena man from a car submerged Tuesday in the Sunflower River between Moorhead and Indianola.
Itta Bena Acting Police Chief Ted Washington tells The Greenwood Commonwealth (https://bit.ly/1bLJi0c ) that the body was identified by family members as that of 41-year-old Jacques Lzan Robinson.
Washington says Robinson had been reported missing Monday.
Leflore County Sheriff Ricky Banks says it appears the car struck a bridge abutment on U.S. Highway 82 and plunged into the muddy river.
He says it also appears the vehicle had been under water for several days.
Banks and Washington say the investigation is continuing.
