FLINT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a fire broke out in a Flint-area home, killing a 29-year-old woman and critically injuring her boyfriend and the two children he was trying to rescue.

The Flint Journal (https://bit.ly/NxBp3g ) says the fire was reported early Wednesday at a home in Genesee County’s Flint Township. It identifies the dead woman as Tiffany Dorman.

Authorities say that Charles Hughes, his 2-year-old son and Dorman’s 11-year-old son were in critical condition at Hurley Medical Center.

Hughes’ aunt says he was at work when he got a call that the house was burning.

Diana Hughes says her nephew rushed home and climbed through a bedroom window to rescue the boys. She says he tried but failed to find Dorfman in the burning building.

The cause of the fire wasn’t immediately known.
