EAST FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (AP) - Suffolk County Police say a man was killed in a house fire on Long Island.

The fire in East Farmingdale was noticed by a passing motorist who called 911 just after 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Firefighters responded to the scene on Melville Road and removed a man from the house. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.



Police say the victim, whose name has not yet been released, was the only occupant in the home at the time of the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
