PHOENIX (AP) - A Phoenix man was convicted of second-degree murder for running down another parent with his vehicle after an argument at an elementary school.
Maricopa County Superior Court jurors on Tuesday also found 32-year-old Anthony Michael Parrinello guilty of leaving the scene of a fatal accident.
Parrinello was arrested after 42-year-old Carmello D’Alessandro was run over on a street about two blocks from the school in August 2012. He later died at a hospital.
Parrinello and D’Alessandro both had children enrolled in Canyon Springs School in Anthem, northwest of Phoenix.
As the men waited in a parking lot for their children, witnesses say Parrinello argued with D’Alessandro and then challenged him to a fight at a nearby store.
Authorities say Parrinello drove around looking for D’Alessandro after he didn’t show up.
