PINEWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - The highway between Lyons and Pinewood Springs has reopened after crews cleared away huge boulders brought down by a reconstruction project.

Two-way traffic on U.S. 36 resumed Tuesday afternoon. It had been limited to one lane as crews broke up car-size rocks so they could be hauled away.

The boulders tumbled onto the highway Monday as crews blasted a hillside above the highway. The project is to repair damage from last September’s floods.

State and federal officials plan to close the highway 18 more times for three-hour blasting operations.
