WINSTED, Conn. (AP) - Four members of a Connecticut high school wrestling team who participated in a regional tournament last weekend have been disciplined after being caught sharing a marijuana cigarette.
Officials at the Gilbert School in Winsted would not say Monday how they were disciplined except that one student who qualified for the state open championships in New Haven this weekend is not allowed to compete.
Head of School Anthony Serio said in an email to The Republican American of Waterbury (https://bit.ly/OySj2G ) the incident occurred Friday at a hotel near the regionals where the students were staying. He said his understanding was that the students shared a joint and when the administration was told Monday the students were disciplined immediately.
Serio said police were not involved, so there were no arrests or charges filed.
