WVU Tech physical ed department gets new name

MONTGOMERY, W.Va. (AP) - West Virginia University Institute of Technology’s Department of Physical Education is getting a new name.

The department will be known as the Department of Sports Studies. West Virginia University’s Board of Governors approved the new name on Friday.

WVU says the name change better reflects the addition of new programs in athletic coaching education and sport management.
