WATERBURY, Conn. (AP) - A Waterbury man is facing charges in connection with a traffic crash in Oxford last September that took the life of a 3-year-old girl.
State police arrested 30-year-old Garrett Baker at his home on Saturday and charged him with negligent homicide, reckless driving and distracted driving for allegedly using a hand-held device behind the wheel.
Police say Baker’s pickup truck drifted into the opposite lane on Route 188 on Sept. 11 and crashed head-on into a car.
A passenger, 3-year-old Lily Brooks, died three days later in the hospital. Her mother and younger brother were also hurt.
Baker was released on $75,000 bond and ordered to appear in court March 3.
