MINOT, N.D. (AP) - Minot-area authorities arrested three people and confiscated a large amount of methamphetamine after a reported burglary that involved gunshots.

The Ward County Sheriff’s Department says a Minot resident early Sunday reported that his residence had been burglarized by people who had fired shots at him, and that he had returned fire.

Deputies a short time later stopped a vehicle for speeding and determined the people inside were tied to the burglary. The deputies also seized nearly 1 pound of meth worth nearly $100,000 on the street.

Three men from the Minot and Balfour areas were arrested on drug and weapons charges. Formal charges were not immediately filed.
