SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - A man who was injured when a wheel came off a tractor trailer and smashed through his windshield on a Northern California freeway has died.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office says 31-year-old Kyle Hubbard died on Saturday night, eight days after the crash.
Hubbard was traveling northbound on Interstate 5 in the Sacramento area on Feb. 14 when a wheel came off a southbound trailer. It flew across the freeway median and went through his windshield.
California Highway Patrol spokesman Michael Bradley tells the Sacramento Bee (https://bit.ly/1juXWJt) that Hubbard suffered major head trauma. A passenger in his vehicle was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
