NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - The owner of a New Jersey-based bulk mailing house has been sentenced to two years in federal prison for defrauding clients out of more than $1 million.
Mark Clevett of Randolph was also ordered Monday to pay restitution and will have to serve three years of supervised release once he’s freed from prison.
The 37-year-old Clevett and his father both pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud.
The pair admitted using their Succasunna-based bulk mailing house, Clevett Worldwide Mailers, to run a scheme in which they discarded and shredded nearly 3 million pieces of customer mail between 2007 and 2011, instead of delivering them.
Clevett’s father, 68-year-old Harold Clevett of Middlesex, will be sentenced March 27.
