SANFORD, N.C. (AP) - A Sanford officer is recovering after he was shot while investigating a disturbance call.

Authorities say two officers were shot at around 11:30 p.m. Saturday. One officer was struck in the thigh. The other officer wasn’t hurt.

The injured officer was treated at a hospital and released. Police haven’t identified him.

Two suspects were also shot. One of them, 19-year-old Darrell Naquan Hill, was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted murder.

After being treated at a hospital, Hill was jailed under a $500,000 bond, and it wasn’t known if he had an attorney.

As is standard in such cases, the State Bureau of Investigation is looking into the shooting.
