PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix firefighters say a 3-year-old boy pulled from a backyard swimming pool has died.
Capt. Jonathan Jacobson says family members at a home near 64th Street and Camelback Road discovered the child in the pool Sunday morning.
A family member performed CPR until emergency responders arrived.
Jacobson says he was then taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries.
Authorities say there were multiple adults and children in the home at the time.
They say the boy’s family was visiting and had spent the night at the home, which had no barriers around the pool.
Jacobson says this is the first drowning incident in Phoenix this year involving a child under the age of 5.
