NATCHEZ, Miss. (AP) - Former Gov. William Winter is celebrating his 91st birthday Friday much as he did last year - as director of proceedings for the Natchez Literary and Cinema Celebration.
Winter was governor from 1980-84 and was chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Mississippi Department of Archives and History for decades.
The Natchez Democrat reports (https://bit.ly/1jSLBkR ) that Winter has served as director of proceedings for the NLCC for 25 years. The job requires Winter to act as sort of a master of ceremonies.
A celebration of Winter’s birthday is being held at the Natchez Convention Center.
