BELLINGHAM, Wash. (AP) - A 52-year-old Seattle firefighter accused of having sex with a 15-year-old girl pleaded not guilty Friday to child rape charges in Bellingham.
Michael James “Suey” Sulak remained free on bail after his arraignment in Whatcom County Superior Court.
He lives in Ferndale and met the Lynden girl through a community theater group where he worked on musicals with members of her family.
Sulak is accused of having sex with her after she ran away in December.
Sulak has worked for the Seattle Fire Department since 1999. He’s on paid administrative leave.
