LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - New bike lanes have been opened along a boulevard that runs through the University of Louisiana’s Lafayette campus.

The university said Thursday that the new lanes occupy the outer two lanes of St. Mary Boulevard.

Joey Pons, the university’s associate director of public safety, says the bike lanes are in place to increase cyclist safety and manage traffic flow.
