JUNO BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A man who was hit by a car while jogging with his wife in Juno Beach has died.

Juno Beach Police Chief Brian Smith told The Palm Beach Post (https://bit.ly/1go5lHP ) the driver won’t be criminally charged in the Thursday evening crash. He called it a tragic accident.

Police say the car was stopped at a light on U.S. 1. As the joggers ran into the road, the car pulled forward, likely to make a right turn on red.

Smith says the driver likely startled the joggers. The man put out his hand to ask the driver to stop, but it continued forward.

The victims were taken to the hospital. He died and she’s in critical condition.

Police say the driver and the couple lived in the same complex.
