NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Gov. Bill Haslam has appointed John D. Stites of Cookeville to the Tennessee Board of Regents.

Stites is chief executive officer for J&S Construction Co. in Cookeville and served as a Navy lieutenant during a tour in Vietnam.

The 67-year-old will represent the Sixth Congressional District.



The Board of Regents oversees six state universities, 13 community colleges and 27 colleges of applied technology.
