INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - A retired JPMorgan Chase executive in Indiana is taking over a state cabinet-level position responsible for overseeing private and commercial banks in Indiana.

Gov. Mike Pence on Thursday appointed Dennis Bassett as the new director of Indiana’s Department of Financial Institutions.

He’s charged with overseeing commercial and private banks, trust companies, credit loans and other finance corporations.



Bassett worked for numerous financial institutions throughout his career, including acting as Indiana chief executive officer for Bank One and Indiana president of Huntington Bank.
