ITHACA, N.Y. (AP) - A retired New York state police investigator who once served on a sex abuse task force has been convicted of sexual abuse.

The Ithaca Journal reports (https://goo.gl/lTy97d) that 61-year-old Randolph B. Stark was convicted Wednesday in Tompkins County Court.

The defense said Stark was too drunk to know what he was doing when he fondled a sleeping woman under her shorts on May 31, 2013, in the Town of Ulysses.

Stark will be sentenced April 9. He faces up to seven years in prison and will be required to register as a sex offender.
