COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - The Dorn Veterans Administration Medical Center in Columbia is set to hold a ribbon-cutting for a new center devoted to veterans, including those who’ve served since the 2001 terrorist attacks.
VA spokesman Kevin McIver says Friday’s 11 a.m. ceremony includes an address by Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. Bryan Battaglia. He is the senior enlisted adviser to Gen. Martin Dempsey, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and is the most senior noncommissioned officer in the armed forces.
The 10,000-square-foot center offers a “one-stop shop” for veterans, including those from the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts.
The center offers a variety of services such as primary care, clinical case management, mental health care and pharmacy services.
It also includes caregiver support, outreach services, nutrition care and a chaplain.
