ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - It’s now up to a jury in Albuquerque to decide whether a mortgage refinance worker killed a married couple in the couple’s home nearly a decade ago.

Attorneys made closing arguments Thursday in the trial of Ronald Santiago in the 2005 killings of John “Greg” and Bernadette Ohlemacher. That set the stage for jury deliberations to start Friday.

Prosecutors say Ohlemacher had complained about paperwork in the couple’s refinancing case.

The Albuquerque Journal (https://bit.ly/NhzqjC ) reports that the five-week trial included defense suggestions that the victim’s then-20-year-old daughter was the more likely killer.
