FARGO, N.D. (AP) - The chairman of the Cass County Commission says no immediate disciplinary action is planned against County Administrator Keith Berndt.

Berndt is charged with two counts of misdemeanor domestic assault against a minor in neighboring Moorhead, Minn. His attorney, Lisa Borgen, says no assault occurred and Berndt will plead not guilty.

Commissioner Ken Pawluk tells KFGO radio (https://bit.ly/1gnIHPF ) that the situation is “unfortunate” but that no disciplinary action against Berndt will be considered until more information is available.

Berndt is due in court March 25.

The 53-year-old Berndt has been administrator of North Dakota’s most populous county the past three years.
