NEWARK, Del. (AP) - The Christina School District officials are investigating after two preschool students were left behind on buses in separate incidents.
The News Journal reports (https://delonline.us/1l4UVmf ) that the boys were supposed to be dropped off at Christina Early Education Center. The first incident occurred Jan. 27, and the second on Wednesday.
The mother of the boy in the first incident says it wasn’t reported to police because officials assured her procedures were in place to prevent a reoccurrence.
Christina Superintendent Freeman Williams says the driver and aide are on leave and the district is reviewing why procedures weren’t followed. Standards require bus drivers and aides to check buses for children after their shifts.
New procedures instituted Thursday include taking a roster of children for teachers to compare against the students in class.
