FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - Authorities in Fort Wayne say two people were badly hurt when an SUV being chased by police officers crashed into their pickup truck.

City police spokesman Chris Felton says officers tried to stop the SUV Thursday night because it was registered to someone with pending arrest warrants. The SUV fled from officers for several miles along residential streets, ignoring stop signs and traffic signals.

Police say the SUV ran a red light on the city’s south side, hitting the truck before going into a yard and crashing into a tree.

The Journal Gazette and WANE-TV report the two people in the truck were taken to a hospital in serious condition. Police say two men from the SUV have been arrested.
