GRAND RAPIFDS, Mich. (AP) - A jury in western Michigan has convicted a 25-year-old man of first-degree murder for the robbery slayings of two men outside a Grand Rapids convenience store.
The Kent County Circuit Court jury reached the verdict Thursday in the trial of Michael Norris. He faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole when Judge Paul Sullivan sentences him March 11.
Authorities say Norris and 27-year-old Manuel Rosado decided to rob three men leaving a store Sept. 3, 2012.
Rosado says Norris unexpectedly shot the three men, killing two and seriously wounding the third.
Forty-five-year-old Felix Reyes-Santos and 22-year-old Alvaro Carrillo-Menendez died, while Baldomero Perez-Perez survived a gunshot in the mouth and testified against Norris.
