SHAWNEETOWN, Ill. (AP) - A 42-year-old southern Illinois man has died after a fire at his home in Shawneetown.
Fire officials say Mark P. Scates was pronounced dead on Wednesday at Harrisburg Medical Center.
Gallatin County officials say they’re investigating and aren’t sure what started the blaze.
Shawneetown is about 50 miles west of Carbondale, near the Ohio River.
