FRENCH SETTLEMENT, La. (AP) - Police say a 16-year-old girl was killed when she was struck by one vehicle and then thrown into the path of another on La. 16 in French Settlement.
Police Chief Harry Brignac (BRIG’-nak) tells The Advocate (https://bit.ly/1bOCxen ) the girl, a French Settlement High sophomore whose name has not been released pending notification of kin, was walking north on La. 16 about a mile from the school shortly before 8 p.m. Wednesday when she tried to cross the highway.
Brignac says an SUV clipped the girl as she tried to cross.
He says the impact caused the girl to fall into the other lane of traffic, where another SUV hit her.
Brignac said neither driver was cited because investigators determined the accident was unavoidable.
