TULSA, Okla. (AP) - City Year, a national educational nonprofit, is recruiting more corps members as the program plans to expand its reach to more schools in Tulsa.

City Year opened in Tulsa this past school year. The Boston-based nonprofit places young adults ages 17-24 in high-need public schools to mentor and support students in third through tenth grades.

The program currently has 20 corps members working at two Tulsa schools, reaching 200 students.

Molly Gardner with City Year Tulsa says the program will be in six schools next year and is recruiting 50 corps members.

The program seeks to recruit young adults from a variety of diverse backgrounds to reflect Oklahoma’s demographics.

Corps members sign up for a commitment of one school year and can apply online.
