KILLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Two New Jersey skiers are safe after they got lost when skiing out-of-bounds at Vermont’s Killington ski resort.

State Police say Jack Cole and Jack Kiess, of Glenn Rock, N.J., called 911 for help at about 1:20 p.m. Thursday to say they had become lost.

The Killington ski patrol helped the two men hike out. They reached Brewer’s Corners in Mendon at about 2:30 p.m.

Last year there were 15 separate incidents at Killington in which 49 people got lost and had to be rescued.

This year Killington opened a new natural area within the boundaries of the resort in hopes people seeking back country skiing could find it within the boundaries of the resort.
