PONTOTOC, Miss. (AP) - The Mississippi Forestry Commission and fire officials in Pontotoc County have declared a burn ban.

Fire coordinator Adam Patton tells WTVA-TV (https://bit.ly/1gBYzmx ) that 51 grass fires have been reported in the county since Jan. 15.

No outdoor burning will be permitted.



Authorities say that dry and windy conditions are expected to keep the ban in place until Feb. 28.
