PHOENIX (AP) - The widow of a man who was fatally shot at a Chandler store says he was protecting her at the time.

Chandler police say 36-year-old Kriston Charles Belinte Chee was killed following a fight at a Walmart service counter Sunday afternoon.

Police say 25-year-old Cyle Wayne Quadlin told investigators that he pulled his gun in self-defense.

Detectives say they reviewed video from the store’s security camera system and it verified Quadlin’s description of the fight.

Quadlin hasn’t been arrested and detectives will submit their findings to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office for review once their investigation of the shooting is completed.

Chee’s wife, Arlinda Shirley, told The Arizona Republic (https://bit.ly/1bMZped) she was standing next to her husband of nearly 19 years when he was shot and he died protecting her.
