MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say a 99-year-old woman is hospitalized with second-degree burns after an apartment fire in Mobile.

Mobile Fire-Rescue spokesman Steve Huffman tells Al.com (https://bit.ly/1nNnaCS) that the woman was in serious condition in the burn unit at USA Medical Center. He said she sustained burns over 10 to 15 percent of her body.

The fire happened early Wednesday morning at Maison Deville Apartments.

Huffman said the blaze was contained to the bedroom. When firefighters arrived, the woman was standing at the door. She told investigators she got up to go to the bathroom, and that’s when the fire occurred.

Chip Curreri, the fire investigator on the scene, said the cause of the fire was still being investigated.
