MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) - An 18-year-old University of Montana student who returned to school after being charged with two break-ins in Gallatin County faces new charges of raping a woman in her dorm room.

Timothy Edward Schwartz made an initial appearance in Justice Court Wednesday on charges of sexual intercourse without consent and trespassing for Monday’s alleged attack. His bail was set at $50,000.

Schwartz was charged with two counts of burglary in December after outdoor gear, electronics and alcohol were taken from two businesses at the base of Bridger Bowl. Prosecutors say he confessed to the burglaries.

University spokeswoman Peggy Kuhr says campus officials knew about the burglary charges. She says Schwartz was allowed to return to school on several conditions, including that he was not allowed in the dorms.
