ST. LOUIS (AP) - Fares for users of light rail and bus service in the St. Louis region may be going up, but those with concerns will have an opportunity to voice them.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (https://bit.ly/1gfboyb ) reports that public hearings are planned in March and April for Metro’s plan to increase pass fees for student, weekly and monthly riders.

The agency is considering three fare options in an effort to raise an additional $2.2 million. A monthly pass that now costs $72 would rise by $6 to $8.

If approved, the increases would take effect in July.
