ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. (AP) - A Lancaster County prison guard is on unpaid administrative leave after being charged with beating his 3-month-old son.

Prosecutors said 25-year-old Kory Merkey, of Elizabethtown, is facing charges including felony counts of child endangerment and aggravated assault on a child.

Court documents state that Merkey admitted to beating the baby boy several times over the course of three weeks, when the infant’s mother was sleeping or not at home.

The child went to Penn State Hershey Medical Center on Feb. 4 and was diagnosed with a skull fracture, two rib fractures and a fractured leg.

Officials said the boy is home recovering under his mother’s care.
