NEW YORK (AP) - A Manhattan man is being hailed as a hero. Police say he interrupted a sex attack and provided a description that helped them quickly nab the fleeing suspect.
The incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday in East Harlem.
Police say the 19-year-old victim was grabbed after she got out of a taxi. The attacker threw her to the ground between parked vehicles and slammed her head while trying to rape her.
WABC (https://bit.ly/1fzbfnC ) says 46-year-old Dale Green heard her screaming and called 911.
He gave police a detailed description, then approached the suspect. The attacker tried to run, but was captured minutes later by officers.
Authorities say the suspect previously served 10 years for raping a 13-year-old girl at gunpoint.
