MINEOLA, N.Y. (AP) - A man whose conviction was overturned in the 2008 choking death of a Long Island bouncer has pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
The Suffolk County district attorney’s office said Wednesday that Anthony Oddone of Farmingville admitted to causing the death of Andrew Reister by compressing his neck during a violent confrontation at a Southampton bar.
The 31-year-old Oddone was convicted in 2010 of first-degree manslaughter, but it was overturned.
Oddone was accused of placing Reister in a fatal headlock during a confrontation at the Publick House in Southampton. Reister was declared brain dead two days after the fight.
Oddone is to receive five years and four months in prison, the time he has already served in an upstate prison, and five years of post-release supervision when he’s sentenced on March 19.
