LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) - JaTavia Tapley had 19 points to lead Jacksonville Ribault to a 72-53 victory over Fort Myers Dunbar in the Florida Class 4A girls basketball championship game Wednesday.

Ribault (30-5) used a balanced scoring attack and a defense that held Dunbar to under 40 percent shooting to win its tenth girls basketball championship.

The Trojans never trailed and used their pressure defense to jump out to a 20-10 lead midway through the first period.

Dunbar (29-2) never got into a flow on offense. The Tigers trailed by 14 at halftime and Dekeriya Patterson’s 3-pointer to pull Dunbar to 52-42 with 45 seconds left in the third period was as close as the Tigers would get.

From that point, Ribault went on a 14-0 run to take a commanding 66-42 lead.

Respect Leaphart had 13 points to lead Dunbar. Sierra Shepherd had 13 points and Kayla Rogers added 10 for Ribault.
