MACON, Ga. (AP) - Bibb County sheriff’s officials say a flight instructor and a student are hospitalized in critical condition after a crash at the Macon Downtown Airport.

Authorities say the 55-year-old flight instructor and his 49-year-old student were riding in a single engine plane when it crashed Tuesday afternoon.

Lt. Sean DeFoe says the two were doing drills when they were swept up in a sudden wind change about 100 feet above the ground.

Details on the extent of their injuries weren’t immediately available.
