LEHI, Utah (AP) - A 43-year-old man convicted of sexually abusing a child in Lehi seven years ago has been extradited from Mexico to serve his Utah prison sentence.

Utah County sheriff’s Sgt. Spencer Cannon tells the Deseret News (https://bit.ly/1nNyfDN ) that the Joint Criminal Apprehension Task Force helped locate Santos Ismael Hinojos (ee-NOH’-hoes) in Baja California.

Hinojos skipped bail before he was found guilty in 2008 of three felony child sodomy charges for abusing the girl over a period of several years.

He was sentenced in absentia to multiple terms of five years to life in prison.

Cannon says Hinojos was arrested Jan. 22 in Ensenada by Mexican authorities, Utah County sheriff’s deputies and U.S. marshals.

He was returned to the U.S. the next day.
