GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) - PPL Montana crews breaking up ice near the Black Eagle Dam discovered a body in the Missouri River near Great Falls on Wednesday morning.

Cascade County Sheriff Bob Edwards said neither the county nor the Great Falls police department have reports of a missing person.

Recovery efforts were hampered by shifting ice and near-freezing temperatures that prevented a rescue team from entering the water.

Edwards says the victim’s body will be taken to the state crime lab in Missoula for identification and to determine a cause of death.
