HUMBOLDT, Iowa (AP) - A northern Iowa man faces multiple charges after he surrendered peacefully to a 90-minute police standoff.

Adolfo Flores, 34, is accused of barricading himself inside a Mexican-themed restaurant Tuesday, according to the Humboldt Police Department. Authorities responded to the business around 4 p.m., following a report of an “armed gentleman with hostages” on the premises.

The hostages were quickly released and Flores surrendered a short time later after speaking with authorities, the Fort Dodge Messenger reported (https://bit.ly/1bm9FcT ).

No injuries were reported. Authorities did not release information about how many hostages were involved.

Flores is charged with false imprisonment, aggravated domestic assault and interference with official acts, as well as two weapons counts. Online court records do not list the name of an attorney for him.

The standoff caused authorities to briefly shut down an area surrounding the restaurant, including nearby businesses.

Arnuld Galvan, the restaurant’s owner, said he knows Flores. He said the man was distraught that morning, but he didn’t elaborate.
