AMES, Iowa (AP) - The public library in Ames has temporarily closed its doors because staff members are sick.

The Ames Public Library says on its website that it closed Wednesday after most staff members called in sick. Their symptoms include headaches and vomiting.

The library is working with Story County Public Health and the state Department of Public Health to test whether norovirus is the cause of the illnesses.

About 25 staff members are sick. Cleaners are disinfecting the library while it’s closed. Winter weather will keep the library closed Thursday and it will reopen Friday.

The Ames library is temporarily housed in a strip mall while the main building undergoes renovations.
