WOODLAND, Wash. (AP) - The Cowlitz County sheriff’s office says a Brush Prairie, Wash., woman has died after she was run over by a runaway truck while loading firewood.
The sheriff’s office says 43-year-old Barbra Delgrosso initially told her boyfriend she was OK after he pulled her from under the pickup truck Monday night. She died after being transferred to an ambulance.
The Columbian reports that county Chief Deputy Coroner Brett Dundas says the woman died of blunt force trauma to the head and chest. The death has been ruled an accident.
The sheriff’s office is investigating although officials say there is no indication of foul play or that drugs or alcohol played a role.
Sheriff’s Deputy Charlie Rosenzweig says the woman was standing in a broken-down pickup helping her boyfriend and another friend transfer firewood to another truck. She jumped or fell from the disabled truck when it was bumped by the working truck. She was then run over by the working truck.
