MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (AP) - Marshalltown police say a 16-year-old boy died in a late-night house fire that took firefighters hours to control.
The Marshalltown Times-Republican reports (https://bit.ly/1fak5NU ) firefighters were called about 11:15 p.m. Monday to the blaze in the older, two-story house.
Crews worked for five hours to extinguish the fire.
Police didn’t release the name of the teenager killed in the fire. Police Chief Mike Tupper says there’s no evidence to suggest criminal activity caused the fire, but that investigators are still working to determine where and how it started.
When firefighters arrived, they found flames coming from the front door and windows on the first and second floor.
