NC toddler dies when dad backs over her

WAXHAW, N.C. (AP) - A Union County toddler has died after her father backed his vehicle over her in the driveway of their home.

Sheriff’s deputies say the man thought his 18-month-old daughter was playing behind the house when he backed over the toddler Monday afternoon.

The girl’s name has not been released.

She died at a hospital in Waxhaw from head injuries.

Capt. Ronnie Whitaker called the death a tragic accident. The death is still under investigation.
